GSA Executive Elections: Report of the Chief Returning Officer, February 2012
This report will detail the nomination of a new GSA Executive that occurred in February 2012, for a term starting in May 2012.
The call for Executive Nominations was sent along with the Notice of Election on February 1, 2012. As per By-law 9.3.1, the call for nominations included explicit instructions about locations and deadlines (interpreted by the CRO and DRO to mean the location where nomination forms were to be dropped off and the deadline for receiving the nomination forms). This notice is included as an appendix.
The nomination period started the day that this email was sent (February 1) and lasted for one week, ending on February 8, 2012. The nomination forms that were received were accepted by the CRO as per By-law 9.3.3.
At the end of the nomination period, only five nomination forms were submitted for the five executive positions. There was one nomination received for each of the five Executive positions, therefore, as per By-law 9.4, no election will be held and the five nominees are acclaimed to their positions with a term starting on May 1, 2012.
The GSA is honoured to introduce the 2012-2013 GSA Executive:
Hassan Nasir, President
Malwina Mencel, Vice President Communications & Events:
Mike Makahnouk, Vice President External
Mahdi Safa, Vice President Internal
Robbie Henderson, Vice President Student Affairs
Tanya Christidis, Chief Returning Officer
