Graduate House Renovations

After years of planning, months of discussions and weeks of waiting we have finally received confirmation that major renovations of the Graduate House will begin in May 2012.  Our challenge is to ensure that all the major projects are completed by the end of August 2012.  Major repairs/renovations include external and internal projects that will require a complete suspension of operations in the Graduate House.

The Graduate House is closed for the Spring Term 2012

Our last day open is Friday April 27th

We plan to resume full operations in September 2012

The Graduate House Fee will be needed to help fund part of the renovation project and I encourage you to consider supporting this project.  We truly appreciate your support!

If you prefer to obtain a refund of the Graduate House Fee ($15.00) please send an email with an attachment of your Spring 2012 itemized fee statement and your on-campus address (or off campus address if you are enrolled in distance programs) to Rose Vogt  rvogt@uwaterloo.ca .  Requests for Graduate House Fee refunds must be received between
May 1, 2012 – May 18, 2012.
Cheques will be sent to you because there will be no access to the Graduate House during construction.

We thank you for your continued support, and for your patience with these matters.

2012-13 Executive Team

GSA Executive Elections: Report of the Chief Returning Officer, February 2012

This report will detail the nomination of a new GSA Executive that occurred in February 2012, for a term starting in May 2012.

The call for Executive Nominations was sent along with the Notice of Election on February 1, 2012. As per By-law 9.3.1, the call for nominations included explicit instructions about locations and deadlines (interpreted by the CRO and DRO to mean the location where nomination forms were to be dropped off and the deadline for receiving the nomination forms). This notice is included as an appendix.

The nomination period started the day that this email was sent (February 1) and lasted for one week, ending on February 8, 2012.  The nomination forms that were received were accepted by the CRO as per  By-law 9.3.3.

At the end of the nomination period, only five nomination forms were submitted for the five executive positions. There was one nomination received for each of the five Executive positions, therefore, as per By-law 9.4, no election will be held and the five nominees are acclaimed to their positions with a term starting on May 1, 2012.

The GSA is honoured to introduce the 2012-2013 GSA Executive:

Hassan Nasir, President
Malwina Mencel, Vice President Communications & Events:

Mike Makahnouk, Vice President External

Mahdi Safa, Vice President Internal

Robbie Henderson, Vice President Student Affairs

Tanya Christidis, Chief Returning Officer
