Graduate Student Association Fee
This $15.00 fee is your membership fee for the Graduate Student Association. It pays general operating expenses of the GSA, and funds the services not explicitly funded by other fees, such as legal aid, tax aid, social events, and lobbying the university and government on grad student issues. This fee is non-refundable. You can download a budget summary for further information.
GSA-Administered Fees
Several fees have been amalgamated under one line item totaling $187.64 for full time graduate students and $127.00 for part time graduate students. An explanation of the fees assessed as of September 1, 2011 is listed below.
Health plan ($52.00): This fee pays for supplementary health insurance. It is refundable annually, if you can provide proof of equivalent coverage. For details on the health plan and refund procedure, see our Health and Dental Plans page.
Dental plan ($60.00): This fee pays for dental insurance. It is refundable on an annual basis. For details on the dental plan and refund procedure, see our Health and Dental Plans page. It was instituted in a 2004 referendum.
Graduate House fee ($15.00): This fee pays for your membership in the Graduate House, a members-only club operated by the GSA. The fee is refundable; please see the Grad House membership page for details. By obtaining a refund of the Graduate House Fee you forfeit your membership. Bus Pass Fee (per term)
May 2010 – August 2010 ($50.42)/term
September 1, 2010 – August 31, 2011 ($52.94)/term
September 1, 2011 – August 31, 2012 ($60.64)/term
This fee pays for a universal bus pass with Grand River Transit. This fee is assessed to all full time graduate students on campus within the Region of Waterloo. It is not refundable. It was instituted by referendum in March 2010.

Graduate Studies Endowment Fund
This fee is not for a service administered by the GSA, but graduate students are involved in deciding how the endowment income is spent. The Graduate Studies Endowment Fund (GSEF) was created by a referendum of graduate students, and is supported by a voluntary $20 contribution from each grad student each term.
