News Feeds

The GSA website offers two “feeds” that you can subscribe to if you use a calendar or blog feed reader. Both feeds include all GSA social events, Council and Board meetings.

RSS News Feed

An RSS reader allows you to subscribe to “RSS feeds” from websites that are frequently updated (e.g. blogs). Each time you open your reader, you will get a list of all new items from your subscriptions. The URL for the GSA news feed is http://www.gsa.uwaterloo.ca/newsfeed; the format of the feed is RSS 2.0.

• If you have never used a feed reader, you might try Google’s free online reader, which can be incorporated into the iGoogle home page.
• In Apple Mail, select File > Add RSS Feeds… > Specify a custom feed URL and enter the feed address.
• In Apple Safari, click on the following URL: http://www.gsa.uwaterloo.ca/newsfeed

Event Calendar Feed

An iCalendar-compatible reader similarly allows you to subscribe your calendaring software to be automatically updated. The GSA iCalendar feed is located at http://www.gsa.uwaterloo.ca/icalfeed

• In Google Calendar, select Other Calendars > Add > Add by URL and enter the feed address.
• In Apple iCal, select Calendar > Subscribe and enter the feed address, or simply click on the following link: webcal://www.gsa.uwaterloo.ca/icalfeed.  Be sure to set Auto-Refresh to Every day.
